Lectures On Coral Health, Water Issues

Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve’s free public lectures on an abbreviated December schedule are by UH Manoa graduate students researching coral disease and water issues.

The talks begin at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 5 and 12 in the park theater, as listed below:

Dec. 5 – “Patterns of Coral Disease Across Protection Boundaries” with master of science student Maya Walton in zoology; “Where Does the Water in the Ala Wai Go and Why Does it Matter?” with Emma Nuss, master of science student in physical oceanography.

Dec. 12 – “Connecting Land Use to Coastal Groundwater Nutrient Loads on Maui” with James Bishop, master of science student in geology and geophysics; “Connection between Plankton and People in Kaneohe Bay” with Michelle Jungbluth, Ph.D. candidate in oceanography; and “Ocean Acidification and Mineral Dissolution on Coral Reefs” with Robert Thompson, Ph.D. student in oceanography.
