Learn Bookkeeping, Tax Basics
A workshop and a seminar for small business people and micro-enterprises are scheduled for next month in the computer learning center at KEY Project (Kualoa-Heeia Ecumenical Youth Project).
Sponsored by the Office of Hawaiian Affairs, the free sessions are as follows:
* Basic QuickBooks Workshop, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 12: Covering how to use QuickBooks to simplify bookkeeping and how to run financial reports from the program. Bring a QuickBooks program and laptop ready to download the software.
* Seminar: Small Business Tax Basics, 6 to 8 p.m. Jan. 16. Covering the choices of tax forms and filing dates, the difference between Sole Proprietor, Partnership, LLC and S-Corporation tax filings, addressing misnomers such as “home office, “car expense,” etc. Of course, some small businesses will find it easier to outsource this sort of thing to one of the Toronto accounting firms. This can save them time and ensure that their tax returns are done accurately.
Native Hawaiians are especially welcome to attend. KEY Project is located at 47-200 Waihee Road. For more information, call 564-3198.
