Le Jardin Academy Dedicates New Outdoor Tennis Courts
Le Jardin Academy’s Outdoor Sports Center is now complete, following the official opening and blessing of its tennis courts. Let the P.E. classes begin!
“We had a terrific turnout with many members of the tennis community in the audience,” said LJA spokeswoman Cynthia
Manley of the Aug. 24 ceremonies, which included a blessing by kahu David Kaupu and music from the school choir.
The project’s major benefactor and longtime tennis player and fan, Masu Dyer of Kailua, was honored as the namesake for the 4,000-square-foot complex, which features a full-sized regulation tennis and volleyball court, two basketball courts, four mini-tennis courts, a heated saltwater pool, and boys and girls locker rooms.
Dyer is an avid tennis player, community walker, U.S. Tennis Association volunteer and is president of Kahiau, a foundation that promotes the growth of tennis in Hawaii. The Masu Kusume Dyer Outdoor Sports Center received additional funding from the Atherton Family and First Hawaiian Bank foundations.
