Ko‘olauloa Reaps Its Rewards
Now in its second year, Turtle Bay Foundation has increased the amount and number of its grants and scholarships to Wind-ward and North Shore students by supporting projects of 41 schools and nonprofits, plus 14 first-time scholarship recipients at Kahuku High School.
The Red Raider scholars are Leilani Adolpho and Hannah Miller (both for studies at BYU-Hawaii); Nuumau Coleman and Saitui Moeai (both for BYU-Provo); Tasha and Tiffany Kahaulelio (Occidental University); Ocean Eale (Stanford), Madisson Geisser (UC-Santa Cruz), Kelsey Ann Mamizuka (Southern Oregon University), Tuli-Lefefe Wily Matagi (University of Utah), Kahea Pirrone (University of La Verne), Kawika Vendiola (Windward Community College), Brittany Waite (Chaminade University), Sasha Yamada (Reed College) and Elena Yoshida (Seattle University).
The foundation’s grants to nonprofits ranged from schools to civic clubs to environmental stewards, sports teams and health groups.
A Dec. 2 awards presentation was held by the nonprofit foundation at Turtle Bay Resort, which sponsors the fund.
