Kokokahi Y To Celebrate New Look at Sept. 14 Community Fair
YWCA of Oahu will unveil its new Kaneohe facility at a free Kokokahi Community Fair, set for Sept. 14 on Kaneohe Bay Drive.
The 11-acre Kokokahi campus, with views of the bay and the Koolaus, is reopening following “massive” renovations that began in 2012.
The work has included complete renovations to the recreation center and Atherton Hall. Some of the cabins and restrooms also have been revamped, and changes to additional cabins and the pool are currently being made.
According to YWCA, these changes were made possible by its volunteers, as well as help from Home Depot, which donated paint and manpower for these projects.
The fair will have food trucks, canoe rides, short hikes, a rock wall and local vendors, as well as a keiki fun zone with inflatables and games.
There also will be a community expo of local organizations, businesses, exhibits and demonstrations.
Holunape, Puamana, the Royal Hawaiian Band and others will entertain the crowds at the free event, which will run from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Windward-based vendors and nonprofits still are welcome to sign up for the fair in order to display their products and services, but space is limited. The YWCA also seeks a sponsor for keiki activities that could include face painting, temporary tattoos and simple games.
For more information or to inquire about vendor spaces, contact Wendy Chang at 695-2620 or email wchang@ywca.org.
Free parking will be open the public at Castle High School with shuttle service to the fair.
