LAS VEGAS HAS a reputation for tolerance or what some would call a blind eye. However, when the residents of Sin City find something repugnant it’s a safe bet that most other communities would deem it reprehensible. The city temporarily renamed “Paradise Road” to “Paradise City Road” to promote Guns N’ Roses residency at the Hard Rock Hotel. The temporary change in nom de plume didn’t raise any hackles but a poster bearing the graphic of a female victim of a sexual assault did. Not many found visuals and accompanying “Welcome to Paradise City” tour name to be appropriate even for a place built on objectifying and tantalizing.
BACK IN JANUARY, after 40 years as the Las Vegas Hilton, the hotel had to change its name to LVH when it could no longer pay the tab to use the famous brand. In January 2013 the Hilton name returns to the strip at the Tropicana Las Vegas. It’s all part of a new franchise deal with the company founded by Paris & Nicky’s great granddaddy. Das right, you can once again earn and redeem Hilton Worldwide reward points on the strip.
