KHUSH

Patricia Tombini

From Brazil to Hawaii, Khush offers a great line of women’s fashions that are perfect for any tropical island lifestyle.

Originally founded in 2002 as a kids’ company in California, designer Patricia Tombini (right) relaunched Khush in Hawaii in 2007 and changed the focus to women’s wear. With Brazil as her biggest inspiration, the Honolulu resident designs and warehouses her garments locally, and makes frequent trips to Bali where they’re manufactured.

“Khush is a mix of the mystic culture and art of Bali with the Brazilian twist and flavor,” explains Tombini, who was born and raised in Brazil. “The cultural diversity gives an extra touch and charm to the collections. The direction of the line is guided by the philosophy of exploring comfort with beauty and trend. Our exclusive prints and comfortable fabrics give the relaxed and casual look, which is described as a beach lifestyle, with a spicy, tropical touch.”

Tombini, who had two boutiques in Brazil in the 1990s, studied fashion design in Florence and then at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in Los Angeles, graduating in 2001. She says customer input also plays an important part in her versatile creations.

“Khush is a Hindu name, which means easy nature, pleasant and peace,” she says. “When mixing the beautiful energy of Brazil with the exotic Balinese style and the beauty of Hawaii, Khush just makes sense.”
