Keiki Safety Class Is Saturday

Responding to the alarming rise in threats to children nationwide, Smith Taekwondo Center will present a free Keiki Safety Training class for children at 9 a.m. Saturday in Kaneohe.

The class will teach basic safety skills to show children how they can stand up and protect themselves, as well as methods of avoiding harm. “There will be a special emphasis on threat-identification and active shooting scenarios,” said Bob Smith, founder and master instruc- tor of the center. “My life’s work is making sure we arm our children with the right tools to be safe.” A veteran martial arts instructor, he also offers self-defense clinics for hospital staff, and free women’s self-defense seminars.
