Kaneohe Man Guilty Of Lay-net Violation In Bay
A fishing-rules violation last July in Kaneohe Bay recently brought a guilty verdict in Kaneohe District Court.
A Kaneohe fisherman was convicted Jan. 8 of laying net “that appeared to exceed the legal length of 125 feet.” In fact, DOCARE officers responding to the scene July 20 discovered that he had laid 1,550 feet of unregistered lay net in the bay. Considered petty misdemeanors, each such act is punishable by a fine of up to $1,000 and/or 30 days in jail.
