Homestead Neighbors Band Together On Sale
The Kanehili Hawaiian Homestead in Kapolei will conduct its first community yard sale from 7:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, bringing together more than 100 homes for the event.
Items will include men’s, women’s and children’s clothing, household items and sporting goods as well as baked goods and live entertainment.
The homestead is a residential subdivision and designated Hawaiian home land that opened in 2009. The subdivision currently is comprised of more than 300 occupied homes, and a total of 402 homes are expected to be constructed.
“This idea came from one of our lessees, Sweetheart Galderia, (who) decided that this event would be a great opportunity to let the public and surrounding communities know that we are a small part of their community and we welcome everyone,” explained Jodi Akau, KHH Neighborhood Security Watch coordinator.
Each participating house will be selling goods individually. Some residents are planning to donate their proceeds toward constructing a park for the community.
Kanehili Hawaiian Homestead is located behind the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands off of Kapolei Parkway. For more information, find Kanehili Hawaiian Homestead on Facebook.
