Kaiser High Gym Will Host Jiu-Jitsu Championships April 14
Registration is now open for the 2012 Hawaiian Open Championship, hosted April 14 by the Hawaii Triple Crown of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Kaiser High School gym.
The tournament is a three-legged event open to adults, women, children and all weight divisions and all levels of skill.
Three championship tour-neys make up the Triple Crown Series: Aloha State Championship, Hawaiian Championship and Hawaiian Open Championship. The athlete who accumulates the most points throughout the three events earns the Hawaii Triple Crown championship belt.
Children’s weigh-ins are from 9 to 10 a.m., that day, and adult weigh-ins will run from 10 a.m. to noon.
Early registration is open until midnight Sunday for those interested in competing, and the fee is $75 for adults and $55 for children. From April 9 to midnight April 12, the late registration fee is $90 for adults, $70 for children. Applications will not be accepted April 14.
Hawaii Triple Crown of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu also seeks time- and scorekeepers. No experience is necessary. A staff meeting and orientation are planned at the start of competition.
