The consul general of Japan, Toyoei Shigeeda, held a welcome luncheon reception at his Nuuanu Avenue residence Jan. 16 for 37 high school students affected by the Japan earthquake and its aftermath. The students are all participants in the Kizuna Project, a Japanese government-sponsored youth exchange project between Asia-Oceania and North America, and involving more than 10,000 youths from 41 countries. The project aims to promote global awareness of Japan’s revival efforts.
