Island Icon Insures Its Legacy

Seventy years ago, a group of island families combined their resources to form Finance Factors, a small company dedicated to providing personal loans to Hawai‘i residents. Over the years, Finance Factors grew into the state’s largest locally owned depository financial services loan company.

Two decades later, in 1970, Finance Insurance Ltd. emerged as one of the offspring in what would become the Finance Factors Family of Cos. Following a path like that of its parent, the company initially focused on providing insurance to Hawai‘i residents and businesses that had been underserved by more traditional companies.

It turned out to be a successful formula. Finance Insurance has since grown to become a force in Hawai‘i’s insurance industry. Today, it is one of the state’s largest locally owned insurance agencies and one of the top 10 in the islands. It is also the No. 1 insurer of architecture and engineering companies and a leader in professional liability coverage for attorneys, CPAs and Realtors.

Unlike many big-brand insurance companies that sell only their own products, Finance Insurance represents more than 70 local, national and global carriers — including some of the country’s highest ranked carriers.

Finance Insurance has offices, agents and staff on O‘ahu, Hawai‘i Island (Hilo and Kailua-Kona) and Maui. Overall, the Finance Insurance team includes 75 insurance agents, account executives and support staff.
