Ihilani Gala Aids IPA Tuition Fund
In celebration of Mardi Gras, Island Pacific Academy in Kapolei will host Treasures of the Caribbean Gala and Auction from 6 to 11 p.m. April 13 at the JW Marriott Ihilani Resort and Spa Hokulani Ballroom.
The event aims to raise money for school programs and student financial aid.
In its relatively short lifespan – the school was established in 2004 – IPA already has made a name for itself by achieving an International Baccalaureate distinction.
“IPA is a growing International Baccalaureate (IB) World School with innovative and hands-on programs to provide our students with the best educational experience possible,” explained Dan White, founder and headmaster at IPA. “This unique event invites the community at large to join with IPA faculty and parents to raise money for the school and students through a fun, formal evening affair.”
Ihilani executive chef Scott Higa has created a buffet for the benefit, filled with dishes with a range of Caribbean influences – from Jamaica, Cuba and Trinidad.
The gala also will feature music by Greg and Junko MacDonald, Nueva Vida and vocalists Ginai and Little Albert. Casino games also will be available.
Guests can seek their very own treasure in a number of items and trips that will be auctioned at the event. These include a vacation package to Las Vegas at the California Hotel, Disneyland California Adventure Park tickets, tickets for two to the Emmy Awards and a Maui vacation.
Space is limited; IPA recommends that tickets be purchased by April 5. Cost is $130 per person. Tables for 10 start at $3,000.
