HULAerobics: It’s A Lifestyle

Certified health and wellness practitioner Pamela Lara has meshed hula with aerobics to create a fitness program that’s more than just exercise. In her words, it’s a lifestyle.

Lara decided to create HULAerobics (her first class opened in 2000) and previously held classes at UH Manoa, Waikiki Community Center and Ke Ola Mamo Native Hawaiian health center, among other locations. She moved to Ewa Beach in June.

The move to West Oahu came on the heels of her recovery from two tumor biopsies, and thankfully she has HULAerobics to help her stay happy and healthy.

Lara aims to share her classes with the community and offers a free introductory class at 5 p.m. Thursday at the Waterfront at Puuloa in Ewa Beach (under the cabana), located at 5105 Iroquois Ave.

Participants can look forward to a little bit of body-sculpting dance yoga, Pilates, interval training, hula and Tahitian dance at the session, titled “HA’ FIT Hula for Health!”

While the Nov. 6 event is free, Lara also offers recurring classes, which cost $45 for 10 classes, plus one free class upon registration.

Call her at 312-402-0643 for more information about the introductory class.
