IKF Hawai‘i Comes Home With Gold
Congratulations to International Karate Federation Hawai‘i on bringing home a total of 47 medals (20 gold, 13 silver and 14 bronze) from the AAU National Karate Championships June 26-30 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Led by sensei Chuzo Kotaka, competitors ages 7-14 competed in individual and team events in kata (forms), kobudo (weapons) and kumite (sparring). Medal winners include Haley Chee (two silver), Camryn Miyashiro (two gold, one silver, two bronze), Alexander “Kama” Henry (three gold, one silver, one bronze), Lene Mosby (two gold, two silver, one bronze), Lynn Chun (four gold, one bronze), Leo Nishizaki (two gold, one silver, two bronze), Alexis “Mio” Bueza (four gold, one silver), Jesse Moniz (three silver, two bronze), Kaia Mosby (two gold, three bronze) and Kacey Takuma (one gold, two silver, two bronze). Ka Makana Ali‘i Helps Kapolei Athletics
Ka Makana Ali‘i hosted a football camp featuring pro football Hall of Fame wide receiver Jerry Rice at Kapolei High School June 25. During the event, Ka Makana Ali‘i and DeBartolo Development presented a check for $3,000 to the school’s athletic department.
