‘Waterman’ Filmmakers Give To Foundations

To celebrate the theater debut of Waterman, a documentary about the life and legacy of Duke Kahanamoku, The Foundation for Global Sports Development donated $10,000 each to local organizations Nā Kama Kai and Ho‘oma‘a Foundation. Panda Express Comes In First

Panda Express at Moanalua Shopping Center claimed the title of top Panda restaurant fundraiser for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals in 2021 after raising more than $45,000 for Kapi‘olani Medical Center for Women & Children, Hawai‘i’s only CMN hospital. UHWO Student Goes To Japan

The Consulate General of Japan recently held an award presentation ceremony for the 2022 Monbukagakusho (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science & Technology) Specialized Training College Students (Senshū Gakkō Ryūgakusei) Scholarships, and one recipient from Hawai‘i, Ace Cabangon (right), was selected to study in the ˛ eld of culinary arts in Japan. The University of Hawai‘i – West O‘ahu student is the only one of three from the United States to receive this prestigious three-year scholarship. Pictured with him is consul general Yutaka Aoki. JROTC Students Honored

The Veterans of Foreign Wars Department of Hawai‘i, which supports a number of high school Junior Reserve Oﬃcer Training Corps programs statewide, presented medals to four Moanalua High School JROTC students on May 11.
