Kids Heart Challenge
Holy Family Catholic Academy fifth-grader, Nicole Shigeta, single-handedly raised $1,308 for American Heart Association at their Kids Heart Challenge Feb. 12. Despite the pandemic, students at HFCA and Early Learning Center raised $19,137 at the event, shattering their previous record of $13,062 set in 2004. That ranks them in the top five schools statewide for fundraising, out of 162 schools participating this year. Over the years, HFCA students have raised $224,793 for American Heart Association through its Kids Heart Challenge, where students from preschool through the eighth grade jump rope, hula hoop and participate in other heart-healthy physical fitness activities.
