Hospital Celebrates 50 Years Of Attending To Windward Needs
Castle Medical Center will mark its 50th birthday July 14 with tours, music, free health screenings, cooking demonstrations and much more for the community it serves.
As part of the Adventist Health System, the hospital also is the primary health care facility for the Windward side, offering 160 beds and an ever-expanding array of services and expertise, along with classes and seminars.
But from 1 to 5 p.m. July 14, it’s party time.
Expect refreshments, balloon animals, face-painting, fire engine rides, a Tumble bus and tours of the renovated lobby and gift shop, plus nonstop music by Windward headliners. On stage will be Hoku Zuttermeister & Ka Hula O Kealamailani at 1:30 p.m., Kaukahi at 2:30, and Vaihi at 3:30.
Visitors who were born at CMC and have alerted organizers to that fact will find a special lanyard and VIP badge waiting for them at the information booth. “Castle Babies” also are invited to march in the July 4 parade. To learn more, call Helene Waihee at 263-5371.
Recent multimillion-dollar upgrades have resulted in a new cardiovascular operating suite and a new outpatient center adjoining the main lobby, which has new furnishing and artwork. Officials say the CMC Gift Gallery is now the largest of its kind on Oahu.
The Bistro cafeteria serves everything but meat, and now has the advantage of a thriving rooftop garden to supply its salad bar and vegetable selections.
