Ho‘omaluhia Lei Classes This Month

Ho’omaluhia Botanical Garden will offer several classes this month to prepare the community for lei-making season. Each class comes with a fee, and advanced reservations should be made at 522-7066.

* Succulent Lei Haku (wili method) – Learn how to make a haku lei using succulent plants and traditional flowers at 10 a.m. April 16. Fee is $10.

* Ti Leaf Lei – Learn how to prepare ti leaves several ways and how to make leis and ti roses at 10 a.m. April 23. Fee is $5.

* Lei Po’o (wili method) – Learn how to make a lei with flowers from your yard at 12:30 p.m. April 29 and at 10 a.m April 30. Fee is $15.
