Hoakalei Golf Tournament Raises $100,000 For Area Nonprofits
Hoakalei Country Club in Ewa Beach hosted its annual Els Hoakalei Cup charitable golf tournament last week.
Thirty-six teams participated in the tourney, which raised more than $100,000. The event also included food and festivities during the game, as well as a reception afterwards.
The money will go to five local organizations: Hawaii Autism Foundation, Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii’s Hale Pono Ewa Beach Clubhouse, James Campbell High School Athletics Department, Hoakalei Cultural Foundation and Hoakalei Charities.
Norman Santos and Neal Matsumoto won first place among the golfers.
The club also announced the Toru Nagayama Founders Award in honor of Haseko chairman Toru Nagayama, who co-founded the Els Hoakalei Cup.
In future years, the award will recognize the club member who raises the most contributions for the tournament.
