Bob Smith
Martial Arts Master

Where and with whom did you see the movie?

I saw it with my wife Angie and we went to Ko’olau Consolidated Theatre.

Overall what did you think?

I was honestly disappointed. It wasn’t the best movie. There wasn’t much of a story line to it. It was kind of misleading. You didn’t understand what the storyline or objective was.

It went from her in a restaurant getting ready to have coffee, and you didn’t know what she was doing. Then she goes to meeting up with an assassin and kidnapping a teenager. Then she ends up telling the teenager her entire history.

I would never have given out that kind of information.

On a scale to four stars what would you rate this film?

★. There was not a very strong story line. And the characters, some of them really didn’t have a place in the movie.

Without giving away the ending, what was one of your favorite scenes?

All the fight scenes were good. They were kind of corny, but I do martial arts, so of course I like the fight scenes.

Who would you recommend this movie to?

Honestly, if it was a cable movie, I’d tell anyone to watch it for the fight scenes. But not in theaters.

Did any of the actors stand out?

No. But, actually, Gina Caranao is a friend of mine, and I felt bad for her as far as the plot line went.

Did you identify with any of the characters?

No, which is disappointing. Anti-terrorism is what I do. If I didn’t know anything about what they were doing, I would have thought it was a great movie. But I’m kind of critical because that’s what I do all day long.

What’s your favorite movie snack?

Popcorn. That’s it … and kakimochi. Also, the theater was awesome. The counter help was actually bringing the food to us. My wife was really impressed, too.

On a different note, what’s new with you?

We are just working on our kids martial arts program, and I’m looking forward to new programs with the kids this year. We’re also preparing to compete in our national event.

Smith Tae Kwon Do & Pro-Sport Kickboxing Center has grown to be the largest taekwondo school in the state of Hawaii.
