Hawaiian Civic Club’s Holoku Ball
Hawaiian Civic Club of Honolulu held its scholarship gala, Holoku Ball, earlier this year at Royal Hawaiian Hotel. Last year, HCCH awarded more than $70,000 to Hawaiian scholars seeking degrees in an array of disciplines. In keeping with the club’s founding objectives set forth by Prince Kalaniana’ole in 1918, the ball honors those who work toward social and intellectual excellence and pride in Hawaiian identity. This year’s honorees are retired chaplain of Kamehameha Schools Kahu David K. Kaupu, director of Kamehameha Schools Office of Cultural Development Dr. Randie Fong and Hawaiian Airlines executive Debbie Nakanelua-Richards.
