Happy Last Chemo, Katy Akitake!
“After more than six months of intense chemo for acute myeloid leukemia, my granddaughter, 2-year-old Katy Akitake, had her last treatment and was released (Jan 20). This was the day we were waiting for and dreaming of and couldn’t believe the day finally came. The staff at Kapiolani Medical Center surprised us with a huge sign, big chocolate cake and a gift. There were lots of hugs, good wishes and smiles. It has been a tough journey, but we made it through with prayers and support from family and friends, and the loving, caring KMC staff.” -Lynda Takara, happy grandma
