Habilitat Trees Ready To Buy
For the 38th year, a Windward drug rehab facility has mounted a massive Christmas tree sale to support its mission. Proceeds from the sale of trees and related holiday greens – about 7,000 products in all – will help pay for the tuition and operating expenses at Habilitat.
Retail lots will be open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Nov. 23 to Dec. 15 at Stadium Mall in Aiea and at the corner of Ward and Kapiolani for walk-in sales as well as pre-orders. Six other one-day lots, including one at Kalaheo High School, will be open to customers from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Dec. 1.
More than 94 Habilitat residents are taking part in the fundraiser, according to Kirk Markham, a resident working in public relations for the tree sale.
“Getting the community involved plays a huge role in the outcome of this venture,” Markham said, noting that phone sales are ongoing, day and evening, at the Kaneohe facility, which does not accept any government funding.
Besides its substance abuse rehabilitation program, Habilitat is known locally for services in construction, landscaping, remodeling and catering, as well as its annual concert and luau, usually held at Windward Community College.
The 2012 tree sale has a complete line of noble, grand and Douglas firs, door charms and wreaths, shipped and stored in refrigerated containers. For more information, call 235-3691.
