Group Proposing Train Museum
The city Department of Planning and Permitting will have a public hearing at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 27 at the Mission Memorial Conference Room to review a request to allow a new train museum for the historic Hawaiian Railway Society.
The nonprofit railway group operates a stretch of track from Ewa to Nanakuli, and the proposed museum would be located next to the railroad on Renton Road. The organization is dedicated to educating the community about Hawaii’s railroad history, as well as preserving the tracks.
Those interested in testifying may register on-site prior to the hearing. Attendance is not required to testify; written testimony also may be submitted prior to the hearing to the Department of Planning and Permitting, 650 S. King St.
Maps detailing the location and boundaries of the project also are available for review at the department’s data access and imaging branch. For assistance on viewing the maps, call 768-8023.
