Group Preps For Kapolei Work
Kapolei-based drug-free coalition E Ola Pono Ma Kapolei seeks volunteers to participate in its planning meetings to coordinate its Community Work Day from 9 to 11 a.m. Oct. 5.
The planning meetings scheduled from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Sept. 9 and 30 in the Kapolei High School teachers’ lounge.
The community workday will focus on beautifying several recreational and cultural areas. Parks to be cleaned include Kamokila Park, Kapolei Community Park, Kapolei Regional Park, Kalaeloa Trail and Cultural Park and Barbers Point Beach Park.
Kapolei Middle and High schools will also be cleaned and painted. Work will include clearing debris, brush and weeds, as well as replanting native vegetation. Wheelbarrows, shovels, buckets, work gloves and digging tools also are needed for the workday.
E Ola Pono Ma Kapolei is comprised of businesses, schools, churches, individuals, community organizations, parents, youths, and state and county government agencies – all with the common goal of preventing and reducing substance abuse among area youths.
