Google Enters The Phablet Market
It was just a matter of time before Google entered the phablet market, and sure enough, last week it announced the release of the Nexus 6. It’s the latest smart-phone they developed with Motorola. Its 6-inch Quad HD display (slightly larger than the iPhone 6 Plus and Samsung Galaxy Note 4) and 13-megapixel camera make it great for either movies on-the-go or getting some work done.
Nexus 6 sports a massive battery capable of up to 24 hours of use from one full charge. Plus, the Turbo Charger allows you to get up to six hours of use from just 15 minutes of charge. It will be available in 32GB and 64GB.
Additionally, the Nexus 9 tablet is the next-gen tablet built in partnership with HTC, and it features brushed metal sides and an 8.9-inch screen. It has a keyboard folio that magnetically attaches to the tablet, folds into two different angles and rests securely on your lap like a laptop.
Both platforms will feature Android 5.0, better known as Lollipop, and the latest mobile operating system that will now work on other devices including smartwatches, TVs and cars. It’s designed to pick up where you left off, so the songs, photos, apps and recent searches from one of your Android devices can be enjoyed immediately across your other devices. Intuitively, the content will respond to your touch and even your voice, so the transitions are more fluid. Best of all, you can adjust your settings so that only certain people and notifications can get through a locked screen if you’re busy.
Preorders for Nexus 6 will begin later this month, and expect the pricing to start at $650. Nexus 9 tablet will start at $399 (16GB).
