Golf For Good Schools May 16
A local foundation that shared $50,000 with the community last year wants to do it again – with your help.
Turtle Bay Foundation’s second annual benefit golf tournament is set for May 16 on the resort’s Palmer course. The event is a three-person scramble with registration at 10 a.m., lunch at 11 and tee off at 12:30 p.m. Fee per team is $500, with higher charges for sponsor levels. The event also features an awards and pupu party at 5:30 p.m. at Surfer, The Bar. For details, call 293-6000, email info@turtlebayfoundation.com or visit turtlebayfoundation.com.
Since it was officially established in 2012, the foundation has awarded grants to 36 area nonprofits (from Kaaawa to Waialua) ranging from classroom supplies for local schools to sports teams, preschools, civic clubs and robotics programs. Support comes from the resort itself as well as fundraisers like this one.
Last year, the foundation awarded college scholarships to Adora Anae, Berard Feuao, Brandee Heder, Emalia Marquardsen, Jennifer Nacapuy, Jeheryl Okala Makaiau, Stream Goo and Tonga Milavea – all students from Koolauloa or the North Shore.
