Oily Al (aka state Sen. Mike Gabbard) and WaterWoman (Alana Penaroza) battle over the right way to care for the land in a skit performed for He'eia Elementary second-graders Nov. 18 in their cafeteria. The costumed characters also led the keiki on a visit to Ho'omaluhia Botanical Garden to learn more about watershed stewardship, sponsored by Healthy Hawai'i Coalition. The nonprofit HHC was co-founded in 2002 by Gabbard and his daughter, U.S. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, using a grant from the state to deliver its conservation message free to Hawaii schools.
