Actress Tempestt Bledsoe wore a maile leaf lei to the Academy Awards. The necklace was created by Kailua designer Renee Rokero of Kolohe Gurl Jewelry. Rokero said she spent more than 80 hours crafting the $1,200 double-strand lei out of 36 hand-formed leaves, 10 feet of bead mesh chain, and 10 feet of oval link chain, all sterling silver.
