These once-beautiful Samoan coconut trees were butchered July 12 and had to be cut back and fertilized in the hope that they will rejuvenate. Donated by the Lani-Kailua Outdoor Circle to the Kaimalino neighborhood, the trees have been nurtured for years by Steve Knox. Report and photo from LKOC president Lyn Turner.
