Focus on West Oahu

Lynne Unemori (left), vice president of corporate relations for Hawaiian Electric Company, presents a $10,000 donation to Barry Nakamoto, treasurer of the Hawaii Society of Professional Engineers Educational Foundation. The funds will be used to support the 2012 MATHCOUNTS Hawaii events, including the Oahu chapter competition Feb. 25 at Punahou School and the Hawaii state competition March 3 at Iolani School. MATHCOUNTS is a national enrichment, coaching and competition program that promotes mathematics achievement. Participating West Oahu schools include Ewa Makai Middle School, Highlands Intermediate, Kapolei Middle, Our Lady of Perpetual Help and Waipahu Intermediate. Photo courtesy HECO.
