Enjoying Quality Care After A Fall
Aloha Pamela,
My 4-year-old autistic granddaughter was with my husband and me in Sears’ Garden/Tools Department at Windward Mall. Suddenly, she broke free from my grasp and ran out into the traffic/parking lot area.
In the chase, I tripped and fell. It knocked the wind out of me big time!
Suddenly, I heard soothing voices asking how could they help, was anyone with me?
A mother-daughter team of “angels” kept my granddaughter safe, retrieved important items that fell out of my purse and offered a towel for comfort.
Within minutes, my husband was by my side. With my right hand swollen and turning purple, he immediately drove me to Kaiser Moanalua Emergency, where a team of caring individuals gave me the utmost care for my injuries. I can’t remember your faces, and I didn’t get your names, but you know who you are, and I am forever grateful.

I’d like to thank mail carrier Lisa for her show of caring for the neighborhood where she delivers mail.
Recently, I saw her stop during her deliveries to pick up debris that had scattered on the street following a blue bin pickup. She goes the extra mile for all her patrons, and this was another way of showing her aloha.

I would like to say a big mahalo to the city bus drivers! My two teenagers have been taking the city bus to and from school for years from Kailua to town.
Recently, both of my kids left their wallets on TheBus on different days. Both times, the wallets were turned in to the lost and found by bus drivers, with their valuables.
Another time, my daughter left her lunch on the bus, and the following morning the bus driver gave it back to her, and said that they had refrigerated it at the end of their shift until the morning.
Kudos to the bus drivers, who quietly are watching over their passengers.
