Enchanted Reef Lurks Under Hokulani’s Roof
Children can look up at the Hokulani Imaginarium dome Saturday and see what lies beneath the ocean’s surface.
The Windward Community College planetarium will screen the animated film Kaluoka‘hina: The Enchanted Reef at 2 and 3 p.m., projected on its 360-degree fulldome, with a focus on a magical tropical reef threatened by a volcanic disaster. Characters sawfish Jake and reef fish Shorty must figure out how a legend about touching the moon can save their aquatic home.
UH’s Center for Microbial Oceanography Research and Education also will have an ocean awareness exhibit outside from 1 to 4 p.m. with details about its research and potential for careers.
Admission is $7 for adults; $6 for UH students and staff, military and seniors; and $5 for ages 4-12. Keiki under 5 get in free. Attendees should reserve a spot by 4 p.m. Friday by calling 235-7433.
