Elder Care Training In Kailua
At some point in life, people will need advice on caring for their elders at home and in the community.
The Dana Project has Eden-certified trainers who will conduct two workshops in Kaneohe this week amd next to prepare families for such a caregiving situation.
Called Eden at Home, the workshops are set for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday and May 9 at Kailua United Methodist Church, 1110 Kailua Road in the Sato Cottage. Refreshments will be served. Only 24 people, however, can participate in each workshop. Fee is $10, and it should be sent to Project Dana, 902 University Ave., Honolulu HI 96826. For more information and to register, call Sue Pignataro at 263-0136 or Liz Nelson at 239-7849.
The workshops apply Eden at Home concepts and the 10 principles of the Eden Alternative, which serve to minimize the three plagues of loneliness, helplessness and boredom. There are two, four-hour sessions per workshop, with a follow-up talk story meeting to see how well the lessons have been applied.
