Eat, Support LCC Students
Hungry West Oahu residents can eat for a good cause Feb. 15 at Leeward Community College’s Valentine’s Day Scholarship Brunch, scheduled for 7:30-11:30 a.m. in the college’s Uluwehi Cafe and Lion Courtyard.
The college’s annual brunch raises much-needed funds for its culinary student scholarships.
Money also goes toward facilitating partnerships with community high schools and their culinary programs.
This year’s menu will feature healthy salads, such as mixed greens, sliced island papaya and pineapple; and spinach, bacon and house-smoked salmon pasta salad.
Main dishes include kabayaki meatballs, Portuguese sausage, Chinese long bean and won bok with spicy black bean sauce, baked Molokai sweet potatoes with macadamia nut glaze, home-style corned beef hash, herb-baked chicken and more breakfast foods.
No meal would be complete without dessert, and the choice of guava chiffon cake or sweet bread pudding with vanilla ice cream is up to you.
Entertainment will be provided by kumu hula Vicky Holt Takamine and Halau Pua Ali‘i ‘Ilima. A craft fair also is planned for the guests to peruse.
Tickets cost $17 in advance or $22 at the door for adults.
Children ages 5-10 pay $8 at the door, and admission is free for keiki age 4 and younger.
