Cookies Are Just The Start
By Michael Wilding | General Manager, DoubleTree by Hilton Alana Waikiki
What do you think of when you hear someone say, “chocolate chip cookie?” Does it conjure happy memories from your childhood? That is exactly what the folks at DoubleTree by Hilton want. There is something special about a warm, yummy chocolate chip cookie. Besides making you feel good inside, it says “Welcome” in so many ways.
That’s why we give one to every guest as they check into DoubleTree by Hilton Alana Waikiki. It’s our way of showing you how much we care. Cookies are baked fresh every day at every one of our more than 250 DoubleTree by Hilton hotels in 17 different countries. In fact, DoubleTree gives out approximately 60,000 chocolate chip cookies each day, adding up to more than 21 million cookies annually. We also have donated more than one million cookies to acknowledge members of the communities where we operate hotels. Doctors, nurses, military personnel, homeless shelters, orphanages, food banks and fire-fighters all have been given DoubleTree signature chocolate chip cookies.

At DoubleTree by Hilton, every little thing we do adds up to Create A Rewarding Experience for our guests (CARE). Our hospitality starts with the warm chocolate chip cookie upon arrival and continues through the award-winning Hilton HHonors guest reward program, our Sweet Dreams by DoubleTree Sleep Experience and our industry-recognized Culture of CARE. Our friendly and attentive staff is dedicated to providing personalized service throughout your stay.
It is because of this culture of CARE that our very own Ernestina Ambrocio was selected for the prestigious Spirit of CARE Award. Nominated by their peers for their exemplary loyalty, attitude and service, the chosen team members continually exceed expectations of both customers and fellow team members. Less than one percent of all DoubleTree by Hilton team members nationwide receive this honor each year. Ernestina, who works in our Housekeeping department, was nominated for the award by her peers after proving to be an exceptional role model. She continues to make outstanding contributions to guests and team members, showing great enthusiasm in all areas of her work at the hotel.
It is also through our team’s spirit and culture of CARE that DoubleTree by Hilton Alana Waikiki was able to garner two separate industry awards after undergoing its $16 million rejuvenation project. Earlier this year, Hotel Business magazine recognized the hotel’s owners, Keck Seng Group, as its “2012 Upscale Renovation Deal of the Year” and TravelAge West magazine recently selected DoubleTree by Hilton Alana Waikiki as an Editors Pick in its 2012 WAVE (Western Agents’ Votes of Excellence) Awards. The hotel was nominated in the “Best New Resort or Major Renovation Category.”
