Container ‘House’ On View At Christ Church

Christ Church Uniting is responding to Hawaii’s housing crisis by displaying a unique model home on its Kailua grounds. The Model Shipping Container House is up and open to the public now through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 1300 Kailua Road.

The project is a partnership between the church and Faith Action for Community Equity (F.A.C.E.), a longtime advocate of affordable housing. The remodeled shipping container is offered as a possible solution, especially if city regulations are relaxed to allow accessory dwelling units in Ohana-zoned neighborhoods.
