Competition Seeking Original Mobile Apps
Students from any public or private middle and high school on the island are invited to join others from across the country in the Verizon Wireless Innovative App Challenge to compete to win $10,000 for their school.
To compete, students team up in groups of five to 10 under a faculty adviser to create an original concept for a mobile app that incorporates science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) and addresses a need or problem within their school or community.
Winning teams will receive $10,000 for their schools, professional training to further develop their designs and a chance to present their ideas at the National Technology Student Association Conference. Members of each winning team will also win Samsung Galaxy Tabs.
The challenge is designed to encourage interest and increase aptitude in STEM.
The submission deadline is Jan. 18. To register and for more information, visit appchallenge.tsaweb.org/index.html.
