Civic Club’s Dinner Will Laud Distinguished Men

Ko’olaupoko Hawaiian Civic Club will honor three distinguished kama’aina at its annual dinner, set for 5 to 9 p.m. Aug. 24 at Bay View Golf Course, where the club also will present other awards, stage a silent auction and country store for its scholarship fund, and provide Hawaiian entertainment.

“We are pleased to recognize these outstanding individuals who have truly shown, by their example, the spirit of aloha in the work that they do,” said Mahealani Cypher, chairwoman of Ku i ke Kama’aina. The honorees are kumu hula Frank Kawikapuokalani Hewett, Hawaii Tourism Authority CEO Mike McCartney and former lawmaker and DOE schools chief Charles Toguchi.

Tickets cost $30, and sponsorship tables also are available for donations of $500 and $1,000.
