Chaminade Staging Its Own Kind Of Spelling Bee
The musical comedy The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee takes the stage at Chaminade University’s Mamiya Theatre April 12-15.
The musical by Rebecca Feldman with lyrics by William Finn brings insight into the journey of six awkward adolescents as they compete for the title of spelling bee champion.
Under the direction of three equally awkward adults, the students will learn that winning isn’t necessarily everything, and losing doesn’t make a person a loser.
Chaminade’s production is directed by Brother Gary Morris, who has been an associate professor of theater and English at the Catholic college in Kaimuki for nine years.
Show times are 7:30 p.m. April 12, 13 and 14, and 4 p.m. April 15. Tickets cost $20 for adults, and $10 for children, seniors, military, students and Chaminade faculty and staff. For reservations, call 735-4827 or visit chaminade.edu.
