Castle Wellness Series Serving Up Brain Food
Hawaii Pacific Neuroscience will launch a series of Healthy Brain seminars with a program from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Castle Wellness Center.
The seminar will feature talks by three HPN experts on brain stimulation and proper nutrition, and participants can join in a free healthy cooking class. Fee for the seminar itself is a $99 donation, which will go to Hawaii Dementia Prevention Research, and it is 100 percent deductible.
Neurologist Kore Liow is a dementia specialist who directs HPN, which is located on the Castle Medical Center grounds. Neuropsychologist Thomas Harding will present information on what can be done to ward off dementia, such as simple brain games and learning to make good food choices. Nutritional biochemist Steven Blake will share nutrition and food tips that can protect and feed the brain.
Since Alzheimer’s disease has been found to be the sixth leading cause of death in the U.S., a little seminar now and then can’t hurt. To sign up and for more information, call Gemma at 261-4476.
