Casino Night For Uncle’s Canoe Halau
Puakea Foundation hopes to translate a fondness for cards into support for a new canoe halau at He‘eia State Park — where it will host its third annual Casino Night from 4 to 9 p.m. April 11.
On the evening’s program are casino games, Hawaiian entertainment, food and a silent auction. Each attendee also will receive one drink ticket and $500 Bobby Bucks to use for “gambling.”
Tickets cost $50, and can be purchased at puakea.org or by emailing waamau@puakea.org.
All proceeds go toward the eventual construction of Puakea Learning Center at the park, which the foundation hopes will be a permanent home for “Uncle Bobby” Puakea to pass on his art of koa canoe building to future generations.
The project has been in the works for two years now, with a hopeful completion date in 2016. So far, the foundation has raised $80,000.
