It’s Carnival Time In Hawaii Kai
The Hawaii Kai Carnival is back for its second year, bringing midway rides, games and entertainment once again to the “Great Lawn” area mauka of Kalanianaole Highway.
Sponsored by E.K. Fernandez Shows Inc., the carnival will be open March 13-15 and 20-22.
Hours are Fridays 6-10 p.m. ($2 admission); Saturdays noon-5 p.m. ($1) and 5-11 p.m. ($2); Sundays noon-5 p.m. ($1) and 5-10 p.m. ($2). Children under 40 inches tall get in free.
Expect a wide choice of rides, from the Zipper and Wave Swinger to the Super Sizzler, Magic Maze and Dizzy Dragons, all paid for in scrip.
Nonprofit groups and schools can sell tickets redeemable for scrip through March 12 and earn a 15-percent commission. An additional nonprofit partner is Rich Miano’s Hawaii Speed and Quickness. For details, call 682-5767.
To reduce foot traffic on Kalanianaole during the busy weekend, E.K. Fernandez vice president Donna Smith told the Hawaii Kai Neighborhood Board Jan. 27 that the carnival will open a second gate at Keahole Street.
