Business Leaders on the Move in Hawaii
Tab Bowers has joined American Savings Bank as executive vice president. Bowers will oversee marketing, business development and product development. As a 25-year veteran of international consulting firm McKinsey & Company Inc., Bower has a broad range of experience across the financial services industry, including banking, insurance, asset and wealth management.
Jeremy Shigekane has been named chef de cuisine at Hoku’s restaurant in The Kahala Hotel & Resort.
Shigekane is responsible for menu selection and day-to-day preparation of the cuisine while overseeing the culinary staff in the restaurant. Previously he was chef de cuisine at Chai’s Island Bistro at Aloha Tower Marketplace. He has served as sous chef at Fulton and as a line cook for The Oak Room at The Plaza Hotel, both in New York City.
Heather R. Down has been named Waikiki Aquarium’s new monk seal program manager and research associate. Down will conduct training and public monk seal presentations, and will oversee husbandry and research behaviors of resident monk seals. She brings more than 12 years of experience to the position, most recently serving as a project assistant on fish predation studies at Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife.
Blair M.T.Odo has been appointed president of the JAIMS Board of Trustees. As an intercultural educator, Odo previously served as executive vice president and chief operating officer of JAIMS. She becomes the eighth president of JAIMS, a management school located in Hawaii Kai. With more than 20 years at the school, Odo is credited with overseeing the institute’s academic programs, developing a flourishing network of international internship partners and developing customized corporate training programs in Hawaii, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Malaysia and Bangladesh.
