Business Leaders On The Move In Hawaii
George D. Szigeti has been named president and CEO of Hawaii Lodging & Tourism Association’s board of directors. Szigeti has been president and CEO of Better Brands Ltd. since 1997. Better Brands, a subsidiary of Young Market Company, is one of the nation’s largest wholesalers and distributors of beer, wine and distilled spirits. In addition to serving on the HLTA board, Szigeti was a board member and past president of Hawaii Food Industry Association, board member of Hawaii Restaurant Association, president of Hawaii Liquor Wholesalers Association and board member of the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl.
Nolan Namba has filled the newly created position of director of strategic and business development at AlohaCare, Hawaii’s largest safety-net health plan. Namba will be responsible for leading the nonprofit plan’s anticipated expansion into the state’s QUEST Expanded Access Medicaid Program for the low-income elderly, blind and disabled population. Prior to joining AlohaCare, Namba served as vice principal of Hawaii Baptist Academy.
Magdalena Harper has been hired by Architects Hawaii Ltd. Harper, an interior designer, has a wide range of experience in design for hospitality, retail, health care, commercial/office, government, education and single- and multi-family residential projects. She is currently working on the Punchbowl National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific and Maui Memorial Medical Center. Harper received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in interior design from Chaminade University.
Johnathan Tyau has been welcomed aboard the Hawaii Computer Training and Solutions team. He has been hired as its newest IT applications instructor. Tyau most recently was an IT support technician with another company.
