Business Leaders On The Move In Hawaii
Paul Strauss has been appointed chief operating officer for AlohaCare, Hawaii’s thirdlargest health plan organization. Strauss will oversee all non-clinical internal operations and related management team members. Strauss served previously as COO at Hilo-based Bay Clinic, which operates eight Family Health Center service sites caring for residents of East Hawaii. Prior to Bay Clinic, Strauss engineered similar success as CEO of Waikiki Health Center. His experience also includes 17 years of high-level management experience at Kaiser and HMSA in Hawaii.
Timothy J. Roe, MD, has been appointed by the Rehabilitation Hospital of the Pacific board of directors to president and chief executive officer. Most recently Roe served as executive director of Cheng Health Foundation in Hawaii, and has served as CEO and medical director for International Health Technologies. He also was on staff at The Queen’s Medical Center and Kuakini Medical Center.
Teri Uyehara has been named director of client services by Leadership Works, a Hawaii-based business development and consulting company. She will be responsible for all client relations, including coordinating and administrating the company’s public workshops, in-house training development programs and consulting services. Uyehara spent the last 20 years with Hawaiian Electric Company Inc., most recently serving as a compliance analyst.
Michael Shibata of PBR HAWAII & Associates Inc., a land and environmental planning and landscape architecture firm, has received his certified planner designation from the American Institute of Certified Planners, which requires American Planning Association members to meet certain education and experience requirements and to pass a rigorous written examination. Shibata is involved in a variety of planning projects including environmental impact statements for UH-West Oahu.
