Business Leaders On The Move In Hawaii
Susan Gusukuma has been appointed and promoted to the position of store manager of Simply Organized, Kahala Mall location. She brings more than 20 years of store operations experience with extensive skills in management, training, merchandising, inventory control and customer service. Gusukuma started her career at City Mill in March 1992 as a cashier for the Kaimuki City Mill store. In 1999, she was promoted to head cashier, and later that year she was promoted to inventor control supervisor at the Hawaii Kai City Mill store. In 2005, she was again promoted to assistant store manager at the Kaneohe store, where she has worked since.
Eric W. Marler is the new controller and director of financial services for BYU-Hawaii. With more than 20 years of leadership experience in finance, treasury and operations management, Marler will be responsible for all accounting and finance functions on campus, as well as financial aid. After receiving his CPA, Marler attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, to obtain his master’s degree in accounting.
Keith Wakamura has been appointed by Central Pacific Bank as vice president and commercial real estate officer. Wakamura has more than 14 years of banking experience, primarily in commercial credit and loans. Wakamura was previously with Bank of Hawaii and served in various banking positions, most recently as vice president and special commercial workout officer. He has a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in finance from University of Hawaii at Manoa.
Vittal Calamur has been named general manager of The Modern Honolulu. Calamur has been involved in the development of this lifestyle hotel from its initial development phase in 2007 to its new brand transition in 2011. Calamur oversees all day-to-day activities at The Modern Honolulu and assures that guests will experience the style, cuisine and excitement that’s made it a luxury hotel and favorite among celebrity jet-setters.
Lianne Aukai has joined Coldwell Banker Pacific Properties REO department as asset manager. Aukai has more than 23 years of real estate experience, and brings a wealth of knowledge and skills from both the sales and operational side. Prior to joining CBP in February 2012, Aukai served as a transaction manager at Prudential Locations LLC. She began her real estate career as an administrative assistant/accounting for Cayce & Gain Inc./Prudential Northwest Realty Associates in Seattle. She transitioned to the sales side in 1999 and worked as an agent with such companies as Prudential Northwest Realty Associates, Windermere Real Estate/Northwest and Coldwell Banker Danforth and Associates before returning to Hawaii in 2008.
