Boat Rides Will Share Kaneohe Bay Legends

Ko’olaupoko Hawaiian Civic Club will offer glass-bottom boat tours of Kaneohe Bay Aug. 4 and Sept. 1, enriched by stories about the nine ahupua’a that surround the bay.

“We are pleased to be able to share our stories with the community,” said president Aunty Alice Hewett, “so that our local legends can live on for many more generations.”

The Native Hawaiian guides also will discuss concerns about the reef life and threats to the bay’s marine resources.

The cultural boat tours, conducted aboard The Coral Queen, depart at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. both days from the Heeia-Kea Boat Harbor and last about one-and-a-half hours. Tickets cost $20 for adults, $10 for keiki.
